What is this??

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Jeez, I've been slacking on this whole blog thing. A lot has happened since January and a lot of manicures have gone by where I kept thinking to myself, "I really should snap this quick to post on my blog later." FAIL!

Something really exciting that happened in my life recently was getting an acceptance letter to graduate school! Whaaat?? I know! I am finishing up these last few weeks of undergrad school and will be graduating on May 10th! After that I will be moving to the cities to start a new life there! Since I have to move out of my current apartment by May 15th I have been working on packing up my polish. I used to have it all set out on top of my dresser but I have now moved them to one of those ugly, clear, white, plastic, cheap storage thingys.

There they all are in their temporary home. I have about 380 bottles now and have actually been slowing down on buying polish since it is a lot to move.  Hopefully when I settle into a new place I will find a new, more attractive way to store my polish.

NOPI-Kardashing Through the Snow & China Glaze-Glitter all the Way

Wow it's 2013 and it is back to reality for me since classes start on Monday. I had a nice break spending time with some close friends and family and I hope everyone else had a nice time too.

I actually have a swatch today and it is all about glitter. For some reason when I painted my nails the other day I just could not get enough glitter. I started my manicure with a base of black polish then I used two kinds of glitter polish for this manicure the first is Nicole by O.P.I- Kardashing Through The Snow

Kardashing Through The Snow is a clear based multi-glitter polish with green, gold, red, sliver and blue. This color is from the 2012 Kardashian Kolor Holiday collection.

The second polish I used is China Glaze-Glitter All The Way. This is also a clear based multi-colored glitter. It has gold, green, red and purple glitter, very Mardi Gras-esque. This polish is from the China Glaze 2012 Holiday Joy Collection.

This is the manicure with the flash on my cell phone. I used one coat of glitter for each of the polishes using first Kardashing Through The Snow and on top of that Glitter All The Way. For the most part Glitter All The Way is the only color you really see however some silver does peak through from the Kardashian Kolor.

Here is the manicure again without the flash. I should have taken pictures of my nails as I added the different glitters so I will keep that in mind for next time. All in all it ended up being enough glitter.

OPI- My Address is "Hollywood" & other things

Sooooo, apparently I have a blog, when did that happen?

I've been horrible at keeping up with this thing. I keep telling myself when I finish this year of school I'll put more time into this, but since I will be going back to school who knows when I'll ever keep this up regularly. This semester is wrapping up quickly and I have about 90 pages of papers to finish before December 11th. Barf. So I am going to be even worse at keeping up with this than I am now.

Today I actually have a swatch for whoever, if anyone, reads this. But first, my nail polish count is approximately 345 bottles. I anticipate this number to rise substantially as Christmas and my birthday are right around the corner.

I have nowhere to put over 200 of the bottles so for now they just stay on top of my dresser.

Swatch time!
Today I have OPI-My Address is "Hollywood"

I love this color! I got it at JCPenney for $4! Great deal! This color is part of OPI's Touring America Collection.

My Address is "Hollywood" is a light(ish) pink shimmer polish. The color goes on pretty sheer. Here I believe I used three coats of polish and there is still a visible nail line, that didn't bother me much though since I really love this color. It went great with my white as snow skin tone.

Today's Target Haul!

Happy Friday everyone and yay for a beautiful fall weekend!

Today my family (Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister) left to go to Lansing, Michigan for the weekend. My brother is graduating from law school on Sunday, which is awesome, but I am not able to go because I have far too much school work to do. I'm a little sad that I am missing out but I think I made a responsible decision.

It is a bit boring here without my sister and I really do not feel like starting my work quite yet, so to remedy my boredom I went to Target to check out their nail polish and I picked a few things up!

The first thing I picked up from Target was an e.l.f nail polish set. I've thought about getting this a few times before but just never did. I could not pass it up today though because the set was on sale for $2.50! It usually retails for $5.00, good deal.

The set came with four colors. Two of them are creme polishes and the other two are shimmer polishes.

The first color is simply called Nude, which is exactly what it is. It is a peachy, pink creme polish that would be a great color for everyday wear.

The second creme polish is called Smokey Brown. The name is true to the color, it is a light brown that is almost kind of mauve-y too. I can't wait to wear this color! I think it will be a perfect color for fall which is great since tomorrow is the first day of fall!

This color is called Party Purple. It is a deep, shimmery, purple. This is not my favorite out of the bunch, but I am sure it will still get a lot of use.

The last color, which is my favorite out of the set, Smokey Brown coming in at a very close second, is called Dark Navy. Again the name is pretty true to the color. It is a dark, shimmery, navy polish and I love it. I am also excited to use this one but I may wait till it's closer to December since it reminds me of winter a little bit.

Last but not least I saw this polish and just had to pick it up. I am a sucker for black based polishes with little chunks of glitter in it. I saw this and started painting my nails with it in the store. This color is called Twlight Rays. I really love this polish but I really hate the name since I am not a Twlight fan in the least. This is my favorite polish that I picked up today and am really pumped to wear it!

Life post

Ahhh! It has been so long since my last post!  =(

School is in full swing and I am constantly being bombarded with work. Though I am busy with readings and papers I have been enjoying all of my classes. Here is a look at some ( not all ) of the books I will be reading this semester.

It is a lot! Most of this books I will be reading cover to cover. This week I have been working on reading The Iliad which is a 683(ish) page poem that takes place during the Trojan war.

So far the book has been fantastic, but is extremely time consuming.

As far as painting my nails...I haven't been doing much of that =( When I paint my nails I usually try to wear that manicure for over a week doing touch-ups as needed. But lately I have just been wearing a top coat. Shocking I know! Today I even went to class today with naked nails!!

I am working on repairing my cuticles since using a lot of nail polish remove has dried them out a bit. I haven't even really been looking into purchasing any new polish lately either. I think my total amount of polish is at 323, but I recently lost one after a long night with Goldshlager so that count may not be totally accurate. Hopefully soon I will be back to posting swatches!

NOPI-Yellow It's Me & Deborah Lippmann-Oh! You Pretty Things

Yay! It's Friday! Though I am not all that excited because that just means there is one measly little weekend separating me from my first day of classes. However, I am excited to post another swatch! Today I have Nicole by OPI-Yellow It's Me and Deborah Lippmann's Oh! You Pretty Things.

This is Yellow It's Me. I picked this up at (Surprise! Surprise!) TJ Maxx for $2.99. I am not entirely sure why I grabbed this one since I'm not a big fan of yellow polish but I noticed it had a coral shimmer to it so I thought I'd give it a try.

This is two coats of Yellow It's Me. WAY to bright yellow for me. It was a bit hard to notice the coral shimmer unless my nails where in direct light. Because of this I decided to add more coral shimmer to the manicure.

This is Deborah Lippmann's Oh! You Pretty Things. My wonderful mom purchased this for me at TJ Maxx for $5.99!

This is after one coat of Oh! You Pretty Things. You can see that there is a lot more coral shimmer and it also toned down the brightness of Yellow It's Me.

This is after two coats of Oh! You Pretty Things. It turned the yellow to kind of an orange color, which I liked, and the shimmer looked great! Both of the colors went on well; however, they are both sheer colors so you can, if you look really hard, see my nail line.

Essie-Absolutely Shore

Hello and good morning! Finally I have a swatch to post! I did take pictures of a few manicures that I had done while I was at the cabin but the pictures just did not turn out that great. I should really ask for a new camera for Christmas, or a new phone with a better camera.

Today I have Essie's Absolutely Shore which I purchased a while back at TJ Maxx for only $3.99. Essie nail polish usually retails from $7.75-$8.00, so four bucks is a darn good deal.

I Looooooove this color! I actually wore it for about four days, which is a long time for me. The Essie website describes this color as "a soft sea foam green" which is pretty much how I would describe it.

This is a creme polish and I used three coats plus a top coat in these pictures. I feel that I would also describe this color as a light mint color because sometimes when I look at it, it looks like a really soft, pale shade of blue.

The polish went on smoothly and dried pretty fast. I used to think Essie polish was a waste of money since the bottles of polish are only .46 fl oz instead of the normal .5 fl oz, but as long as I can keep getting them for four dollars at TJ Maxx instead of eight I'll think they are a good investment. This is only my third bottle of Essie nail polish.
