Cynthia Rowley-Neon Pink

I have decided to suck it up and paint my nails even though the cut on my finger isn't completely healed. As I said in my last post I wanted to swatch the Neon Pink color from Cynthia Rowley as soon as I could so that's the color I went with.

Here is the bottle of polish. Even in the bottles this color is BRIGHT!

Here is the manicure! The polish goes on smoothly and has a matte finish to it. Of course, as always, I put a base coat on before applying this polish because this would definitely stain your nails. I applied three coats of the neon pink and to finish the manicure I used Jessica Cosmetics Brilliance High Gloss in a Flash Top Coat.

Here is the polish with the flash on my BlackBerry. Shocking! It really is that bright. As I said in yesterdays post I am not really one for neon polishes but I really like this color. It's like party polish and it's Suhweet!

I think I am going to try to wear this polish as long as I can so I don't have to deal with getting nail polish remover in the cut on my finger. OUCH!

Cynthia Rowley Nail Polish Sets

I LOVE TJ MAXX!! It is like my secret designer nail polish spot. I used to never find nail polish at TJ Maxx. Every once in a while they would have a set of obnoxious neon colors by a brand I'd never heard of but lately it seems they are always having awesome nail polish deals.

Today I am going to show you two sets of polish I picked up from TJ Maxx a while back that I absolutely love! They are by the fashion designer Cynthia Rowley. I know that the nail polish brand Zoya had bottles of polish for Cynthia Rowley and that Cynthia Rowley had "nail stickers" but I was not aware that she had bottles of polish...until I found these.

Here they are! I can't find these online anywhere so I do not know what they would regularly retail for. The first three bottles in the picture I got for $6.99 and the last two were in a separate set for $5.99 ((I think)). Also, None of these polishes have names to them but that doesn't really bother me.

The first color is a super bright neon pink. I don't normally go for neon polishes but I kinda dig this one and I intend on swatching this polish ASAP. Maybe even tomorrow though the cut on finger still really hurts =(

The next color is a bright almost neon blue. Love! The polish looks a little soft in the picture but its much brighter than this. I thought it was close to a Tiffany blue when I first saw it but I compared it to one of my T&Co. boxes and this color is much darker.

This color is also another bright one but I wouldn't consider it a neon. It is a coral color and I cannot wait to wear it. I think it's a perfect color for summer since it is more of an orange color than a pink color.

The first polish that came in the second set I bought was this gorgeous shimmery pink. I haven't worn this yet but it seems like it will have a metallic like finish to it.

The last polish I have for you is this soft pastel pink color. I love this color and can't wait to swatch it!

If you are ever looking for nice nail polish for a good price, check out TJ Maxx. I usually find their polish on a small display stand next to the jewelry ((almost always by the dressing rooms)) but in other TJ Maxx stores I have found it mixed in with the make-up, hair products and perfume, so you may have to hunt for it.

Jessica Cosmetics-Sunrise

It has been a few days since my last post. Whoops. But tonight I have one of the polishes that my sister picked up for me at TJ Maxx it is Jessica Cosmetics-Sunrise.

When I saw this color in the bottle I liked it a lot. The shimmer was great the color reminded me of fall, my favorite season, but I wasn't sure it was one that I would like to wear. This is one of my first brownish, orangeish colors and I did not think it would look good with my skin tone ((Gah I sound like my mom)).

I thought this color looked alright. It isn't one of my favorites and it isn't really a Summer color, but I will definitely utilize it in the Fall.

Here is Sunrise with the flash on my camera. I absolutely love how shimmery this color is and it goes on very smooth and easily. This manicure has three coats of Sunrise. Again, I know the quality of these pictures are not the best because I am back to the camera on my BlackBerry. It seems I have misplaced the charger for my "real" camera. Oops!

Unfortunately I will not be able to post swatches for a little bit. Somehow I cut the skin on the side of one of my fingers right next to the nail. It is painful to remove polish so I have decided to give my nails a little break. Hopefully not for too long though!

Jessica Cosmetics polish set

Hello and happy Thursday! Today I have a super exciting post about an awesome deal that my sister got for me at our all time favorite store, TJ Maxx!! My sister gives me a lot of crap about my nail polish "addiction" but I know that she supports it since she buys me nail polish a lot. Here is what she picked up for me at TJ Maxx.

This is a package of five, FIVE, full sized bottles of Jessica nail polish for $5.99!!! In stores a single bottle of this polish can retail anywhere between $7.50 to $10.00!! This deal is mind blowing!

That's five .5 FL OZ bottles of nail polish!

This wonderful blue shimmer polish is Scene Stealer and is part of the Paint the Town collection. I love this polish because it has a nice blue-green shimmer to it and mostly because it comes in a little paint can! So cute!

Here is Sunrise. This is a lovely bronze brown color with multi-color shimmer in it. I will be all over this polish in the fall!

This color is called Chilled Chambord. This is a bright red polish with red shimmer. I found this color to be a very appropriate one for me not only because I love the color red but also because Chambord is one of my favorite liqueurs.

Natural Beauty is a simple peach shimmer. It is a little sheer so it would probably take three coats to get a nice looking manicure.

Last but not least is the Brilliance High Gloss in a Flash top coat. I love this top coat! This is my third bottle of it. The gloss finish is like glass over your nails and it dries quickly making every manicure look that much more amazing.

Thanks to my sister I now have 296 bottles of nail polish and it seems that I'll be hitting my 300th bottle of polish very soon!!

Sally Hansen InstaDry-Expresso

Hello! Today I have for you Sally Hansen InstaDry-Expresso. This is a color I had not planned on wearing but my silver manicure had chipped and if there is anything I can't stand it is chipped nail polish. I thought my manicure would last for the duration I planned on being away from my apartment ((and all of my nail polish)) so I did not bring any nail polish with me except my base coat which just happened to be in my make-up bag.

So this color is one from my moms "collection" of nail polish which consists of two top coats, Expresso and two other colors that are basically identical to Expresso so I didn't really have much to choose from.

To my surprise I liked this polish. Expresso is a nice creme polish that does indeed dry fast. This polish really only needs one coat but here I have two. I've got to thank my mom for this because if she didn't have this polish I'd have had to go out with naked nails. Sooooo THANKS MOM!

Finger Paints-Easel Come, Easel Go! & Essie-Shine of the Times

Good, early morning! I know that it is barely Tuesday but I am going to do my post for today now, before I hit the hay, because I'll be heading up to Minneapolis in the morning. For this manicure I used two different colors and here they are...

The first of the two is from Finger Paints and it is called Easel Come. Easel Go! and the second is Essie's Shine of the Times. Easel Come, Easel Go! is a super shiny, shimmery silver. Seriously, this color is bright! Shine of the Times I got to hold me over until China Glaze's Luxe and Lush came out and I ended up liking the color more than I had anticipated ((but it's no Luxe and Lush)).

Here I have two coats of Easel Come. Easel Go! and one coat of Shine of the Times. The silver alone was just too much for me, too bright, too shiny, and super distracting when I was driving and the sun would shine down onto my nails. Ha, for real. So to tone it down a notch but still keep a decent amount of shimmer Shine of the Times did the trick!

I know that both these pictures are a little blurry, but here is a more blurry picture to show the small flake glitter chunks from Shine of the Times.

Nicole By OPI-Coral Denominator

Happy Monday! Hopefully everyone had a nice weekend. Today I have Nicole by OPI-Coral Denominator.

The color is part of the Justin Bieber One Less Lonely Girl collection. What can I say about this polish other than WOW. I was pleasantly surprised by this polish. I love it and it makes for a really nice summer shade.

Coral Denominator goes on a bit sheer so here I have applied three coats. I love the shimmery coral pink base of this color and the bright gold glitter is really fantastic!

Coral Denominator is definitely one of my "go to" colors during the summer. It is just too bad that I only have one bottle!

Sinful Colors-Winterberry & Finger Paints-Purple Palette

Hey Guys! Today I finally have some pictures that are better quality! Yay! Anyway, I know that a lot of other nail polish blogs do a lot of super cool, super fancy nail art and such...well I am just not that talented. Someday I hope to get into nail stamping but just haven't gotten around to it yet. This manicure is one that I consider "fancy" even though I just used a sponge to add some glitter.

Here are the colors I used

The first polish is Finger Paints-Purple Palette. This polish is a really nice, deep purple glitter with a purple base color. It goes on easily but is a pain to remove. The second color is Sinful Colors-Winterberry. I just recently got this color and really liked the subtle shimmer it has.

Here is the manicure! I thought it turned out nicely. It was really easy to get this look. Here I have two coats of Winterberry, I let that dry and then I sponged on the Purple Palette to get a French Mani type look.

Also, these pictures show the current length of my nails. They are a lot shorter than the previous two posts but I like this length and ((knock on wood)) I haven't had a break since I filed them down.

I know it seems like I have an odd obsession with Sinful Colors nail polish but that's not the case. Though I do like it because for the most part it is a good formula and it is only $1.99 per bottle. For my next post I'll be sure to use a different brand of polish.

Sinful Colors- Midnight blue & China Glaze Luxe and Lush

Good afternoon! Today I have another manicure that I did a while ago, while my nails were still super long, and when all I had to take pictures with was the crappy little camera on my BlackBerry. I did this manicure around the same time I did the one that I posted yesterday. Apparently I was really into the accent nail look.

Again Sorry for the crappy quality!
I really liked this manicure, the Midnight Blue has a wonderful shimmer to it which is hard to see in this picture. But the real beauty in this manicure is China Glaze-Luxe and Lush. When I first saw this color online I knew that one day it would be mine! Luxe and Lush is from their Hunger Games collection and it is GORGEOUS!! I love, love, love this color! The flakes are perfect and have a lovely pastel shimmer to them that is to die for.

For this Manicure I decided to put New York Colors Matte Me Crazy top coat over my nails. This gave Luxe and Lush a completely different effect, the flakes were like little rainbow embers on my nail. It looked fantastic and again, this picture just does not do the polish justice.

Sinful Colors Combo!

Good Morning! Today I am going to post my first nail polish swatch! So Exciting! I am going to apologize now for the quality of the picture, it is really rather pathetic. After the first couple posts I will be using a different camera which will hopefully capture the beauty and shine of the polish better than the camera on my BlackBerry.

For this manicure I used two different colors from Sinful Colors. The base coat on all the nails is called Athens, part of the Sinful Colors Cast Away collection. I have always liked the formula for sinful colors polish and this one was no exception. Athens is a very nice creme polish, it went on easy and I had full coverage with two coats.

The color on the accent nail is Green Ocean. I am not sure what collection this is from but I purchased it around St. Pattys day. -If anyone knows what collection it is from I would really appreciate it if you let me know! =]- This color was not so easy to work with. It is pretty globby and took a while to get the coverage I wanted. However, it was worth it. This flakey polish is so sparkly, it's awesome! The picture really does not do the color justice.

This picture is a bit old, I did this manicure a few weeks after I purchased the Green Ocean polish, and my nails are not that long anymore. =( I loved having these awesomely long nails but they were just too hard to manage so I filed them down a bit to avoid breaking them as often.

Well that is it for today! Tomorrow I should have another post of a manicure I did a while back and then, fingers crossed, I'll be post more pictures, and better quality pictures.

Inaugural Post!

Hello, and welcome to my blog Liberal Lacquer! After months of contemplation I have officially decided to start a blog dedicated to my love of nail polish! It must have been about two years ago when my insane addiction to nail polish started. I used to never paint my nails and if, on the rare occasion, I did, I'd wear it till it all chipped off. I even used to bite my nails! *GASP* Terrible, I know. However, now I take good care of my nails, I do not bite them, and I paint them probably about twice a week. My collection was small to begin with, mostly polishes I had acquired as stocking stuffers years before, but today my glorious collection has grown to 291 bottles of polish (and counting)!

So, for my first post a look at how I store/display my collection of polish.

This beauty here is a rack I made from foam board, silver Duck Tape, and hot glue. It is currently holding 87 of my most used/favorite polishes.

Here is a close up look at the first three rows of my nail polish rack.

And here are the bottom three rows. I plan to make another one or two of these racks but have not gotten around to it yet.

To hold the rest of my polish I have a small bedside table with three drawers. I hate this thing for two reasons. First, because I cannot see all of my polish in the drawer like I can with the rack. Second, the drawers have no stoppers on them! I am constantly pulling the drawer too far and having all my polish spill out onto the floor. Ugh! Annoying! But it will have to do for now.
Drawer number one is holding a variety of different brands and colors.

Drawer number 2

...And drawer number 3. This drawer holds my top coats, matte top coats, cuticle oil, strengthener and mini polish bottles.

Anyway that's it for now! Hopefully I can keep up with this blogging thing and start to focus on posting swatches.
